Harpsichordist Byron Schenkman and his guest violinist Ingrid Matthews transport audiences back to the days of baroque and medieval music. Schenkman has recorded more than thirty CDs of 17th- and 18th-century repertoire, including performances on original instruments. As a pianist and harpsichordist, he has appeared with numerous chamber ensembles and given solo recitals all over North America. In 2009, Schenkman was a featured artist in the Haydn and Mendelssohn bicentennial celebrations in concerts at the Frick Collection in New York and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. He has received rave reviews for the “elegance, wit, and refinement” of his playing (American Record Guide) and for its “astonishing sense of humor” (All Music Guide). Schenkman and Matthews were cofounders of the Seattle Baroque Orchestra and of the chamber ensemble La Luna. Matthews has garnered critical acclaim for her “energy, propulsion and amazing, quicksilver ornaments” and her “exciting, furious and exuberant" style (Seattle Post-Intelligencer).
